Large Hydraulic Cylinder

A large hydraulic cylinder is an essential component in heavy-duty industrial applications, offering robust performance and reliable power transmission under extreme conditions. These cylinders are engineered to handle high loads and operate efficiently in demanding environments such as construction, mining, offshore engineering, and renewable energy sectors.

The construction of a large hydraulic cylinder begins with the cylinder barrel, which is manufactured from high-strength steel tubes. Depending on the inner diameter (ID), materials like cold-rolled precision seamless tubes (for ID ≤300mm), hot-rolled seamless tubes (for 300mm–500mm), or forged tubes (for 500mm–1000mm) are used. Common steel grades include ST52, SAE1045, SAE4140, and stainless steel options like SUS304 or SUS316L. The inner surface is precision bored and honed to a fine roughness (R0.2–R0.4) and may be chrome-plated for enhanced durability and corrosion resistance.

The piston rod, another critical part of a large hydraulic cylinder, is made from materials such as SAE1045, 42CrMo4, or stainless steel. It undergoes surface hardening to achieve a hardness of HRC55–60 and is typically chrome-plated with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 50 microns. Tolerance standards like ISO f7/f8/f9 ensure precise fit and smooth operation.

Sealing systems in a large hydraulic cylinder incorporate high-quality seal rings and O-rings from reputable brands such as Parker, Merkel, or NOK, tailored to specific operating conditions to extend service life and simplify maintenance.
