The term "SRB" describes a sophisticated two-stage manufacturing process. The first stage is Skiving (or Skiving), where a single-point cutting tool precisely machines the interior of a seamless steel tube. This step accurately establishes the final inner diameter while simultaneously ensuring exceptional straightness (typically better than 0.5 mm/1000mm) and correcting any geometric deviations. It creates the perfect foundation for the next critical stage.

The second stage is Roller Burnishing. Immediately after skiving, a hardened, highly polished roller tool is hydraulically or mechanically forced against the internal surface. This cold-working process micro-sizes the surface by compressing the peaks of the skiving tool marks into the valleys. This action achieves two primary goals: it creates an incredibly smooth, mirror-like finish with a surface roughness often as low as Ra 0.1 - 0.4 μm, and it induces deep compressive residual stresses on the surface layer. These stresses work-harden the material, significantly increasing its fatigue strength and resistance to wear and corrosion.

The ultra-smooth finish drastically replicates friction between the tube wall and the piston seals, leading to higher system efficiency, reduced heat generation, and dramatically extended seal life. The improved surface integrity and compressive stresses enhance the tube's ability to withstand high cyclic pressures, preventing fatigue cracking and increasing the overall service life and reliability of the hydraulic cylinder.
