Description
The Induction Hardened Chrome Piston Rod is a high-performance component designed for heavy-duty hydraulic and pneumatic applications where exceptional wear resistance, strength, and durability are required. This type of piston rod undergoes a specialized heat treatment process-induction hardening-followed by hard chrome plating, resulting in a superior product capable of withstanding extreme operating conditions.
Manufactured from high-quality steel grades such as CK45, 42CrMo, 40Cr, or ST52, the rod is first precision-machined to strict dimensional tolerances (ISO f7) with excellent straightness (≤0.2/1000 mm) and surface roughness (Ra ≤0.2 μm). The induction hardening process selectively heats and quenches the surface layer, creating a deep, hardened case with high hardness and improved fatigue resistance. This is complemented by a hard chrome plating layer with a thickness of 20–30 microns and a hardness of at least 800 HV, providing exceptional corrosion and abrasion resistance.

Key mechanical properties include high tensile strength (≥580 MPa for CK45, and up to 1000 MPa for alloys like 40Cr), yield strength ≥350 MPa, and elongation ≥15%, ensuring reliability under high loads and dynamic movements. The combination of induction hardening and chrome plating offers an optimal balance between core toughness and surface hardness, reducing the risk of bending, cracking, or premature failure.
Available in diameters from 6 mm to 500 mm and lengths up to 16 meters, these piston rods are supplied in various conditions, including standalone induction hardening or in combination with quenching and tempering. They are widely used in industrial machinery, construction equipment, and hydraulic systems. Each rod is protected with anti-rust oil and packaged in paper and wooden cases to ensure damage-free delivery.
