Description
Honed cylinder tubes are high-precision seamless or welded steel tubes that undergo specialized internal finishing processes to achieve superior surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties. They serve as the core component in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, where smooth internal surface finish and tight tolerances are critical for efficient and reliable operation.
These tubes are manufactured from various grades of steel including E355/ST52, C20, CK45, Q355B/D, SAE1026, and alloy steels such as 4130 and 4140, complying with international standards including DIN 2391, EN 10305, ASTM A519, and GB/T 3639. The chemical composition of each grade is carefully controlled to ensure optimal mechanical performance and weldability.
The manufacturing process typically involves cold drawing followed by stress relieving (BK+S condition) to enhance mechanical properties and ensure dimensional stability. This treatment results in tensile strengths ranging from 520 MPa to over 600 MPa, with yield strengths between 375-520 MPa depending on the material grade, providing excellent resistance to deformation under high pressure conditions.
The honing process itself removes minor imperfections from the tube's inner surface and creates a cross-hatch pattern that facilitates optimal lubrication and seal performance. For even higher precision requirements, Skived and Roller Burnished (SRB) technology is employed, achieving surface roughness values as low as Ra 0.1-0.4 μm compared to standard honed finishes of Ra 0.4-0.8 μm.
Key technical specifications include inner diameter tolerances of H8 or H9, outer diameters ranging from 40-480 mm, wall thickness tolerances of ±5% to ±10% depending on dimensions, and straightness maintained within 0.5-1 mm per meter. Available lengths extend up to 12 meters, with both fixed and random lengths offered to meet specific application requirements.
These precision tubes find essential applications in hydraulic cylinders for construction machinery, industrial presses, injection molding equipment, mobile cranes, agricultural machinery, and various industrial automation systems. The combination of excellent surface finish, precise dimensional control, and reliable mechanical properties ensures minimal friction, reduced wear, extended seal life, and improved overall efficiency of hydraulic systems.
The quality assurance process includes rigorous testing of mechanical properties, dimensional verification, and surface roughness measurement, ensuring that each honed tube meets the demanding requirements of modern hydraulic applications across various industries worldwide.
